The Area
In southern San Luis Obispo County you’ll find Santa Maria, home of the famous barbecue meats. Just to the north, you’ll travel through five cities featuring Pismo Beach, famous for clam chowder. The active center is the city of San Luis Obispo. During school months this city is populated with students from CalPoly. At the north just beyond Cambria, you can observe the elephant seals as they bask in the sun.

Aside from the famous wine tasting, the areas’ popular activities include walking, hiking, biking, golfing, beer sampling or visiting a California historic mission, If you love the water, you can kayak, surf, fish, whale watch, take a swim or just watch the Pacific’s mighty waves. Don’t miss San Luis Obispo’s Farmer Market on through downtown on Higuera Street every Thursday evening from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.
